【Humans of Taipei】一起畢業的系犬花丸

“Hua-wan (spotty ball) came to our university department when he’s a puppy and became our pet. The schoolmates took turns feeding and taking care of him. The day I graduated, he chased my car. He made a scene and all the people on the street saw me as a bad owner trying to get rid of him… I had no choice but to take him home.

“Hua-wan was so used to going around free. We let him come in and out of our house. One day when I was abroad, he left the house and hadn’t come home for a long time. I made a vow and decided to go vegan until he came home safe. One month passed, and just when I thought there’s no hope, he came back. We had no idea where he went. It was then I decided that I’ll never separate from him.

“Two years ago I went to Kuching, Malaysia and planned to start my career there. I took Hua-wan with me. We didn’t expect a miserable life there. Pigs and dogs there are considered ritually unclean. There were dead dogs on the street. Local people even use blowguns to shoot dogs. I fed the stray dogs there. The people, to my face, kicked them and even ran over one of them on purpose.

“We couldn’t stand that and would like to come back to Taiwan. But it was an epidemic area of rabies. It took me half a year and lots of efforts to bring him home. I asked my boyfriend to go back first, and I stayed there no matter how desperately my family wanted me back. I couldn’t leave without Hua-wan. He was locked in a filthy place for some time. Every day I visited him, it was like I’d never see him again. I also had to bribe the local officials…

“I am grateful that these were all over. Hua-wan is 13 years old. Because of him, we still have schoolmates reunions once in while.”

「花丸本來是我大學系上的系犬，從小就養在系館，大家輪流餵牠。畢業時，牠一直追我的車，路人都以為我是狠心棄養的飼主……我只好將牠帶回家。

「花丸從小自由慣了，搬到我家後，我們也都讓牠自由進出。想不到有次我出國，他竟然離家很久都沒回來，我發願吃素，祈求牠平安回來；過了一個月，就在快絕望時，牠突然跑回來，我們都不知道牠到底跑去哪。後來，我就決定再也不要和牠分開。

「前兩年我去馬來西亞的古晉工作，原本計畫在那長期發展，所以也將花丸帶在身邊。不料，當地因宗教信仰，豬和狗都被視為劣等動物，路上都是狗屍。當地人會用吹箭射狗；甚至我餵流浪狗，他們不但當我的面踹狗，有次甚至開車將狗撞死。

「待不下去，我和花丸要回台灣，但因為當地是狂犬病疫區，我花了半年時間、費了好大功夫才將牠帶回家。我叫男友先回台、不顧家人呼喚，無論如何，我都不能放著花丸。期間花丸一度被關在環境很髒亂的地方，我每天去看牠，都像是生離死別，而且還要不斷賄絡當地官員…。
