The guy: “I work in a factory in Sanchung. I am the only Indonesian in the company. All the rest of the people are Taiwanese. When I started, I was afraid, but I thought to myself, ‘if I act like I am so afraid, the boss will be afraid, too, or have some concern, and this is not good…’
“Turned out the boss is nice, so the second time I came to Taiwan I chose to work in the same company. I work 8-5, and then continue for a few hours, trying to earn some overtime pay!”
The girl: “My job is taking care of children for a family. I talk to the kids every day so I learn Mandarin faster than he does. I take one day off every two weeks. I am very close to the children and sometimes they even ask to come out with me on my day off.
“The guitar is a birthday gift from him, but my boss thinks it takes up space doesn’t want it in their house. We have kept it in his place and only take it out on holidays. He isn’t a good singer, but he sings Indonesian songs and even Taiwanese songs.”
